My name is Mrs. Baltes and I'm a fifth grade teacher at Dowell Elementary. I've been teaching since 2001, but have wanted to be a teacher since I was 5 years old!! Teaching is definitely a passion for me. I have my Masters degree in Elementary Math and my Specialist degree in Brain-Based Education (BrainSMART).
I am married to my wonderful husband, Ed. We just celebrated our 27 year anniversary in March. Since we have no kids we have been able to travel around the world- Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Croatia, Africa, England, Mexico, Nicaragua, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Maarten, Antigua, and just recently Tahiti! I am also a group fitness instructor down the street at Gold's Gym. I teach several classes at night and on the weekends- yoga, spin, Core and Fight. I guess you can really say TEACHING is my passion. I love to help people in all areas! PLEASE use this website as a resource to help in math, science and social studies. There are helpful resources throughout the blog, but more will be placed on the blog throughout the year. |
Teaching StatementThey say it takes a village to raise a child. In a sense, that is true. Every person that is a part of a child's life has an impact on how they grow as a person. The 3 most important people in a child's education are the child, the parent, and the teacher. I believe that working together as a team will help each child to be successful!

Expectations I have very high expectations for our students. 5th grade is an important year as we prepare students for middle school.
-Students are expected to be respectful to others, especially adults. -Students are expected to turn all assignments in on time. -Students are expected to be on task and have appropriate behavior in all areas of the school. |
